Aperol Martini
Last month, Brian and I were invited to a Sunday afternoon party at a brasserie downtown. It was a very warm day and we weren't exactly sure what we wanted to drink so we gave the bartender free reign to mix up something cool and refreshing for us.
We watched as he blended some lime juice and simple syrup with good vodka and then reached for a bottle of Aperol. We weren't familiar with the orange colored liqueur so he explained the citrus flavor, both sweet and bitter and with strong taste of grapefruit. Then he handed us the Aperol martinis he'd created and we were instant fans! And, needless to say, a bottle of Aperol soon found it's way to our home stock. Sweet, sour, tangy and refreshing. Cheers!
Per Serving:
2 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Aperol
1/2 oz. Lime juice
1/2 oz. Simple syrup
Shake well over ice and serve in a cocktail glass with a wedge of lime.
