The Frozen Balalaika
We're all for the interesting and complex where cocktails are concerned but sometimes simplicity and expedience rules. Our favorite, go-to cocktail is the Balalaika which is the fancy name of a classic Sidecar made with vodka instead of gin. Three simple ingredients - equal parts vodka and Cointreau and a half part of lemon juice, shake well over ice and serve in a chilled glass. The drink tends to be on the sour side so we prefer it in a glass with a sugared rim.
But in light of our recent frozen fun creating the Creamy Blue Daiquiri we decided to apply a similar treatment to our beloved Balalaika. We dialed back the lemon juice just a bit to make room for some tangy lemon sorbet and came up with a sweet and sour frozen delight. The perfect cooling cocktail for a hot summer evening. Cheers!
For 2 Servings:
3 1/2 oz. Vodka
3 1/2 oz. Cointreau
3/4 oz. Lemon juice
4 oz. Lemon sorbet
1 oz. Water
Blend together, pour into cocktail glasses with a sugared rim and freeze for at least one hour.
