As you may have heard, New York, usually blissfully free of natural disaster (unless you count political scandals) recently got a double whammy. We were treated to a little earthquake mid-week and then spent the weekend in a hurricane.
Truth be told, we personally were not hard hit by either disaster. We lost a small tree and a few branches courtesy of Hurricane Irene and endured a slightly queasy feeling from the earthquake. Our pup slept through both so we're not counting on her to alert us to anything other than when it's dinner time.
Lychee Martini |
Per Serving
3 oz. Rum
1 1/2 oz. Grenedine
1 1/2 oz. Orange juice
1 1/2 oz. Pineapple juice
1 oz. Lime juice
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
Shake over ice and serve in an iced tea glass or tumbler. Garnish with slices of orange or lime.
Note that the original Hurricane calls for passion fruit juice but, if that's hard to find, the combination of orange and pineapple juices do just fine. The drink itself is deceptively powerful because it's so sweet. In fact, too sweet for our taste. Our version tones it down a touch by using a bit less grenadine and more lime juice.
What a great cocktail, looks delicious! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great, with all the citrus in there. Sounds like a great way to spend a hurricane.
ReplyDeleteGlad you weathered both events OK. Looks like a great cocktail.
