Hey Everyone, Show Us Your Freezers!
So it's a gloomy, rainy day in New York city. That reminds me of one of my favorite old songs by the band Chicago - "Another Rainy Day in New York City." Anyway, I'm spending the day catching up on my blog reading and am seeing a few posts that include photos of people's freezers and refrigerators for various reasons.
And so I picked up my camera, walked into my kitchen and took a picture of my freezer. Obviously these are not beauty shots but I swear I didn't edit the contents. This is what my freezer looks like. So I'm inviting you to comment with links to photos of your freezers. Extra credit if you include the fridge! :)
But back to my freezer. Clearly we have no children so no need to call Child Protective Services or anything. And, in my own defense, I included a photo of my veggie crisper to show that there is healthy cooking and eating going on around here...in between cocktails, of course.
I am not a coffee drinker but Brian is and Zabar's is his favorite brand. Behind the coffee are a couple of packages of frozen spinach because that's one of the few frozen vegetables that I have lots of uses for. I need to restock my frozen peas but otherwise I really prefer fresh. On the right side is my baking stock which currently houses butter (we don't eat full fat butter on our bread so that's just for baking), leftover chocolate chips and leftover peanut butter from my batch of homemade doggie biscuits. I realize, of course, that frozen peanut butter is impossible to eat. And yes, that is the point. I have certain willpower control issues, OK? :)
The bottles in the freezer are gin, regular vodka, vanilla vodka and Cointreau. We like the rum, whiskey and bourbon at room temperature and the liqueurs can't be in there because they would freeze. And, of course, you need chilled glasses. Oh, we sometimes include some vanilla ice cream in our creamy drinks which explains the small container.
So, let's see your freezers. Or just leave the name of whatever 12-step, self-help program you think we need. Happy rainy day in New York City!

You are brave. I will try to instagram it and send ya' a link when I'm home from work. But, be warned. It's a messy mess!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I wish I could but my phone isn't cool and it would take too long to use my camera and upload, blah blahh....I have a bunch of vodka in my freezer too, though lol. Just because I had it leftover from work and am keeping it for my mom--I had it at room temp. but when we had that 90 degree day the lid flew off one of the bottles...now I'm nervous...
ReplyDeleteYou are braver than I ;)
ReplyDeleteYou will freak out when you see mine, no room for martini glasses!
ReplyDeleteHa-this is a great idea. Those people that make those amazing things all in the name of freezer clean out are the ones I am really interested in! I do need to organize the freezer, it has that ransacked look. Love the booze shot. I could never do that, not enough room in there.
ReplyDeleteFreezing the peanut butter is a fantastic idea! I swear I dig in to mine for no reason at all sometimes. You could make a mighty tasty frozen cocktail with your freezer ingredients!! :) My freezer isn't so exciting, I have coffee, lots of homemade gnocchi and Italian sausage ha! I need to go shopping!
ReplyDeleteSo I see you have icecream and cocktails, hmm, can I stop by tonight?? :) help you empty the freezer!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I love your CPS comment! I have two smallish freezers and a stand alone freezer and they are all packed :) NOt sure I have the guts to share any of them, but I'll think about it ;) Have a great weekend~
ReplyDeleteHi Anita-this is such a "classic" post, and photos of your freezer! When I first started out on my blog, nearly 2yrs ago, just did not know which way I'm going with my photos of food, or thrift?...or what else, and I also took a photo of my freezer's content!
ReplyDeleteLOL...would love to have a nice cold glass of your gin martini...although in my freezer, it's mostly fresh freezed and dry spices!...sounds weird, but I'm a "spice freak"
check it out!

I love it! I've never thought about putting the spices in the freezer. We do have quite a spice collection ourselves and I'm particularly fond of cumin and smokey paprika.
DeleteI wish my freezer looked like that. Mine looks like a bomb went off!
ReplyDeleteThis must be the most organised freezer I have ever seen!
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of freezer! Mine just has vegetables in it.... Sigh.... Actually, it's my garden freezer and I just turned it off - empty and waiting for this summer's produce. I could maybe find some other things to put in it.... Hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about putting vodka and gin in the freezer. I'm off to the liquor cabinet to put mine in the freezer!
ReplyDeleteMy first reaction was how neat and organized. My second was, give me directions to that house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! Your freezer is one after my own heart :-) I don't have a picture, but my freezer is stuffed to the gills with strawberries and rhubarbs cleaned, prepped, and ready for pie; vegetable scraps to make stock; brussels sprouts; ice cubes; coffee; frozen homemade curried cauliflower soup; lime juice and homemade stock that I've frozen (separately of course) in ice cube trays; plus cut up pieces of various fruits that I freeze when they're in season. Love the freezer!
ReplyDeletehahaha umm...my freezer is a couple pints of soy ice-cream and a bag of peas? Gross.
ReplyDeleteLOL...I LOVE this post! How fun! You know..I love looking at peoples food posts mostly because I love looking at their "stuff"...plates, utensils, etc! This takes that voyeurism to a whole new level! What a clean, well organized freezer....good thing those bottles stack nicely! (OUCH!....just kidding!) Great post!
ReplyDeleteHAHAH! This is such a fantastic post Anita! You have a super organized freezer and mine looks nothing like that.
ReplyDeleteMine is up (finally)! :-)
