Strawberry Thyme Gin Fizz and a Giveaway!
It's my pleasure today to tell you about my friend Heidi's new line of syrups and to give you the opportunity to win a gift basket. Heidi writes the Young Grasshopper blog and she and I are bonded in our love of cocktails. Now she, and her catering partner, have created a line of flavored syrups, called Not So Simple Syrup, for those cocktails as well as iced teas, lemonades, cakes...the possibilities are limited only by your imagination. They work with a local bottler, use only the finest ingredients and personally test every batch.
A few weeks ago, Heidi sent me some test bottles to get my opinion and I was blown away by how natural tasting the syrups were. I was immediately inspired and this gin fizz is the result. The strawberry version of the syrup was so natural that it paired with thyme as well as fresh strawberries would. And you can make it with or without the fizz depending on the octane level you want.
Check out the Not So Simple Syrup website to see the full line of flavors and get some more recipe inspirations. Then, be sure to enter the giveaway below for your chance to win a gift basket containing two full size bottles of syrup (assorted flavors), a muddler, two stemless glasses and a bar towel. Open to US residents only. Cheers!
Per Serving:
2 oz. Gin
2 oz. Strawberry Not So Simple Syrup
1/2 oz. Lemon juice
2 oz. Lemon-lime soda
Leaves of two thyme sprigs
Add the syrup and thyme leaves to a cocktail shaker and muddle until the leaves have broken down a bit. Add the gin and lemon juice and fill the shaker with ice. Shake well and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Top with the lemon-lime soda and garnish with a sprig of thyme.

Not So Simple Syrup provided me with samples but I was under no obligation and the opinions and recipe are my own.
I'M SOOO HAPPY FOR HEIDI!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Heidi! Her syrups sound amazing and while it is easy to make a simple syrup, I sure wouldn't mind skipping that extra step of a flavored one.
ReplyDeleteThe syrups sound awesome, and so does that drink. I am a new fan of gin, I didn't think I liked it but turns out I was just drinking crappy gin.
