The classic, elegant Manhattan is one of the first cocktails I ever learned to drink. It seemed like such a grown up, classy thing to sip on while sitting in some dark, oak paneled New York bar. So the young me thought it was fun while the...um...older me now appreciates the taste.
It's such a simple drink with just a few perfect ingredients. But the combination actually tastes quite complex and has an intoxicating aroma. Just between us, I always add extra cherries to my Manhattan because I love them after they've soaked up the drink's flavor. And, if I know you really well, it's entirely possible that I would steal the cherry out of your drink too. Cheers!

I like my Manhattans with Rye Whiskey. I've become a big fan of rye in recent years.
ReplyDeleteI could use one right now! Guess I will be making a trip to the store soon.
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law was JUST asking me for a Manhattan recipe, so I'll send this along to her. We mainly stick to Old Fashioned when it comes to whiskey, but I certainly wouldn't say no to a Manhattan like this one :)
