Let's talk about couple dining situations. Are you the type that doesn't mind eating off each other's plates and even forks? Or are you the type that, if your partner comes near your food, will stab him or her with the fork? It's these types of intimate situations that need to be made clear right up front if you have any hope of making it as a couple and not ending up in the emergency room with a fork stuck in your hand.
Personally, I don't mind my partner eating off my plate and even kind of like the intimacy of it. I do make an exception, however, for the crispy eggplant balls at a local Italian place and have made it very clear that somebody better better get their own individual order because I am SO not sharing. But that's a special case.
This brownie dip is highly shareable and the recipe makes a good amount so nobody will get short changed. We all really like eating raw cookie dough and brownie batter anyway, right? This recipe has no eggs so no reason to even consider a baked dessert. Just luscious creamy chocolate, flavored with my favorite vanilla paste from Nielsen-Massey, and swirls of sweet cherry that are perfect for dipping...or eating with a spoon! I'm a huge fan of chocolate covered marshmallows and pretzels but you can also serve strawberries, bananas, cookies, etc. There is still the problem of potential double dipping but I'll let you work that out and please stay away from the forks. Enjoy!

I am definitely in the sharing camp. My husband and I like to each order something different at restaurants and split. Of course, this can become a problem when one person's dish turns out to be exponentially better than the other persons. Then there's always some negotiating involved. :) I have a feeling the two of us could destroy this brownie dip!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about sharing. Not just with my husband, but with friends, too. In fact, when I go out to dinner with friends that DON'T want to share, I get sort of annoyed! I just like being able to try a few bites of a variety of things. I always say "I've been eating small plates since before it was cool," but I kind of have. "Appetizer dinners" <----- I invented 'em ;)
ReplyDeleteBrownies, brownie batter and anything brownie-flavored are my absolute weakness when it comes to food or dessert. I couldn't trust myself around this bowl of goodness!
Sharing is caring when it comes to food. :-) I can't stand it when anyone ends up ordering the same dish because what's the fun in that! There should be some unwritten rule or something! Since we all know licking the bowl is the best part, this dip is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on how much food there is. If we're at a restaurant and everyone orders something different, ok I'll share. However, if I'm at the coworking space and someone wants to eat my food, I will stab them. I need an even food exchange here! Can't say I'll share this brownie dip though. I may be extra stabby sharing this one ;)
